baptism

What is baptism?

At Anchor Church, we believe in the sacraments of the church established by Jesus Christ our Lord; the Lord’s Supper (Matthew 26:26-30; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26) and BAPTISM by immersion as a symbol and witness of the new birth (Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 3:20-22).  Watch this quick video below for a brief explanation of this next step in your journey as a confessed follower of Christ.  Then take a moment to read "The Next Step" below.

The Next Step

After receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life, your next step in moving forward as a disciple of Christ is to get baptized.  You may be saying to yourself, "But I was baptized when I was a baby."  That is the case for a lot of people who may have grown up within the Catholic church or other denominational churches.  As a Church of God, we believe that we are called to do what Jesus did.  In fact, being a disciple of Jesus means to be a follower of Him.  Jesus himself was baptized by John the Baptist prior to beginning his walk in ministry (Matt 3:13-17).  As confessing Christians we make a conscious decision to accept Christ into our hearts as well as our own decision when choosing to get baptized.  This decision is letting the world know as a public confession that we are followers of Jesus and that we are dead to sin and alive in Christ.  We become a new creation.  It is a choice we make in our heart, not a choice made for us.  If you are interested in receiving the sacrament of baptism, please contact our church office at (727)726-7016 or email us @  info@harborlifechurch.com.
